Michael Hall Adult Choir
The Michael Hall Adult Choir performs vibrant music of all styles, not just at the Visual Noise Arts Centre but around the Fylde. Everyone is welcome. The only qualification is the love of singing, there is no audition requirement. Although the women’s choir was formed in 2001, the exciting new development on its 10th anniversary in 2011 has been the addition of a male wing to the choir. All ages are represented and the move to soprano, alto tenor and bass (SATB) will ensure a breadth of sound and a huge increase in musical possibilities for the choir. The aim of the choir is to produce two classical concerts per year and two non-classical concerts, one of which will be for Christmas.
Recent classical works have included Faure’s Requiem Mass, Haydn’s The Creation and Palestrina’s Messa aeterna Christi Munera, The Messiah and Stainer’s. The latter two will be performed in conjunction with Blackpool Male Voice Choir, Blackpool Ladies choir, Opera Plus and Marton Operatics Society. In February 2011, the choir participated as the chorus of servants in Mozrt’s The Marriage of Figaro and in May in a joint concert of musical theatre numbers and opera with the children of the Michael Hall Theatre School accompanied by Lytham Light Orchestra.
Our current project for November 2011 is the production of Puccini’s Sister Angelica also with Orchestra in St Paul’s Parish Church, Marton.
