Michael Hall B.A., M.Sc
Studied singing, piano, harmony, etc at the Royal Academy of Music under the American baritone and distinguished Lieder singer, Bruce Boyce. On graduating he worked as a vocal coach and sang in London, performed in Germany, France and Italy developing a fluency in the languages of these countries.
Wishing to develop expertise in other areas, Mike studied for a Master’s degree in Information Management at Lancaster University. In addition to the teaching of singing, Mike has taught English in Russia, French and Italian at Blackpool and the Fylde College and worked as management consultant to the Information Systems Division of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Past Pupils
Former pupils have gone on to appear in London’s West End and toured in the UK and abroad. These have included
X Factor finalist Aiden Grimshaw, Jodie Prenger, winner of TV’s I’d Do Anything. Laura Wilson appeared as Jan in Grease in the West End, Rebecca Reynolds Evita European tour, Bill Kenwright Ltd. Mark Wilshire, continually in work and on tour in some musical or other. Mark is very difficult to keep track of! Other former pupils have included Donald Francke (the Sacristan in Tosca at Covent Garden, Old Dueteronomy in Cats and Jean Bouquet in Phantom of the Opera in the West End) and Anne Nolan of the celebrated singing family. Jenna Louise Coleman (Emmerdale) Laura Jay (TV presenter) Raine Davis (Emmerdale)and Dominic Rainford (West End actor) are among other students who have gone on to shine in the theatre.
Mike is head of Singing at the Visual Noise Arts Centre and principal of the Michael Hall Theatre School.
