Group Tuition for Young Singers
This is less traditional in approach, but very effective, with small groups of no more than 10 students. Lessons last 1 hour or 45 minutes and consist of approximately 20 minutes exercise, working on breathing, support and voice placing. For the remainder of the lesson, students work on solo and ensemble pieces. Each singer has the opportunity to be heard individually so that progress can be monitored.
Harmony singing is of paramount importance, not only for team work and musical development, but also for the fine tuning of pitch, memory and concentration. In groups, students are able to hear others sing and become, therefore, more able to understand and correct their own mistakes. Groups are assembled according to age rather than ability. Frequent shows, both large and small, enable even the shyest of singers to improve.
Individual Tuition
30 minute lessons are available for children and young people (8-16). Most of these are filtered through the above mentioned group system although limited places are available on request.
Excellent results have been obtained for examinations taken by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).
