After their resounding success in June of Puccini’s one act opera Gianni Schicchi, probably the first opera to be produced in Blackpool, Musica Lirica will be presenting an evening of Fund raising for Mozart’s vocal music on Saturday the 10th of October at the Visual Noise Arts Centre.
The concert is being staged in order to raise approximately the £400 required for the orchestral parts to Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro which the opera company will be putting on in 2010. The company hopes to do even better with the hugely popular Mozart opera.
The Mozart concert will include songs, arias, ensembles and choruses from Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute, Cosi fan tutte, and of course, The Marriage of Figaro, itself. In addition to music from the operas there will be numbers from oratorios and chamber pieces. Although the singing will be, in some cases, in the original languages the philosophy of Musica Lirica is to present their operas in English. Once again, there will be professionals such as the Covent Garden tenor, Kevin Matthews appearing, but also there will be a group of teenagers singing from two Mozart operas.
Venue: Visual Noise Arts Centre, 19 Preston Old Road, Marton, FY3 9PR For further information telephone 01253 696990. Tickets: adults £5, children £3. Refreshments are included. The concert begins at 7.30pm
